About Me
CHRISTINE SUMNER, M.A., ED.S., NCC, LPC
Christine is certified by the Himalayan Institute Teachers Association, and has been teaching yoga for the last 27 years. She is a licensed professional counselor and has worked as a stress management specialist and counselor for the Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease. Before the pandemic, Christine worked at a local nonprofit supporting and counseling those touched by cancer.
Christine’s background in counseling psychology led to an interest in yoga therapy. As a result, she has attended trainings with Judith Hanson Lasater, Sonia Sumar, Karen Hasskarl, Donna Eden, and Amy Weintraub. Christine completed the level one training of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy and completed the Basic Certification Program in Yoga for the Special Child® with Sonia Sumar. Christine is the co-creator of Yoga for the Grieving Heart being taught by Excela Health Home Care and Hospice. All of Christine’s workshops and classes contain a therapeutic element to help her students reconnect and heal.
Christine's interest in alternative healing modalities led her to be trained as a shamanic energy medicine practitioner and health coach through the Light Body School at The Four Winds. In addition, she is a Reiki II certified practitioner and has studied past life regression therapy with Dr. Brian Weiss. Christine has also trained with Doreen Virtue, Lisa Williams, and Fellowships of the Spirit,
Christine has been trained professionally as a coach through the Institute for Life Coach Training. Through coaching, Christine helps her clients make healthy changes to live life from an authentic, heart-centered perspective. She believes that each person has unlimited potential and holds within the solution to any concern. She is happy to accompany new clients on the path to healing and finding their heart's joy. Christine utilizes hypnosis in her coaching practice, and she has been certified in Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy through the Wellness Institute.
When not working, Christine loves to read, study the intuitive arts, and hang out with her friends and boys.
